Blossom-headed Parakeets forage freely in the light forests of Ranthambore, India in this original acrylic by Dr Jeremy Paul. The beautiful Blossom-headed Parakeet (Psittacula roseata) is most notable for the fact that it has been kept in captivity for centuries, having been heavily trapped and imported into Europe by the thousands. Until the 1970's, the Blossom-headed Parakeet had only rarely been bred in captivity, a situation which persists today. This coveted bird is now uncommon in some of its range in Thailand and Burma.
